RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Responsibilities

Position Status: Non-Exempt – (PRN); subject to over-time

Location: Crookston Hospital

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, primarily day shift. No regularly scheduled weekends or holidays; however, flexibility to cover these shifts on an as-needed basis is required.

Pay Range: $17.65 - $24.71 /per hour (DOE - based on experience) – non-benefitted

 

 

Position Summary: The Supply Chain PRN / Coverage Specialist is a critical support role responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of medical supplies and materials within the organization. This position provides essential coverage for both "Pick for Par" and "Courier" functions, ensuring continuity of service during staff absences, increased workload, or special projects. The ideal candidate will be highly adaptable, detail-oriented, and possess excellent customer service skills.

 

Key Responsibilities - Pick for Par Functions:

  • Inventory Management: Accurately pick, stage, and deliver medical supplies to various departments based on established par levels and requisitions.
  • Stock Rotation: Ensure proper rotation of stock (FIFO - First In, First Out) to minimize waste and ensure product freshness.
  • Replenishment: Monitor and replenish supply carts and storage areas, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained at all times.
  • Expiration Date Monitoring: Regularly check expiration dates on all products and remove/quarantine expired items according to established procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of supplies distributed, discrepancies, and returns.
  • Organization: Keep supply rooms and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and report any discrepancies, shortages, or issues with supply levels or product quality to the appropriate supervisor.

 

Key Responsibilities - Courier Functions:

  • Timely Delivery: Safely and efficiently transport medical supplies, equipment, mail, lab specimens, and other items between various departments, off-site locations, and external partners (e.g., clinics, physician offices).
  • Route Optimization: Plan and execute efficient delivery routes to ensure timely and effective service.
  • Vehicle Operation: Operate company vehicles (if applicable) in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. Maintain cleanliness and perform routine checks of the vehicle.
  • Documentation: Accurately log all pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring proper chain of custody for sensitive items (e.g., specimens).
  • Customer Service: Interact professionally and courteously with all staff, patients, and external contacts.
  • Safety & Security: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the handling of hazardous materials and universal precautions. Ensure the security of transported items.
  • Equipment Transport: Assist with the transport of medical equipment as needed, following proper handling procedures.

 

General Responsibilities for Coverage Role:

  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and cover various shifts as needed, sometimes with short notice.
  • Cross-training: Participate in cross-training to competently perform both Pick for Par and Courier duties.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, and internal/external customers.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., JCAHO, HIPAA, OSHA).
  • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with the Supply Chain team and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to a culture of efficiency and excellence.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in a Customer Service, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Inventory Management, or Logistics role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work flexible part-time hours.
  • Valid drivers license.

 

Preferred(s):

  • Any experience with medical supplies and equipment.
  • 1+ years’ healthcare or hospital supply chain experience.
  • Prior courier or delivery experience.

 

Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of inventory management principles.
  • Ability to accurately pick and count items.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and within a team to collaborate.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., data entry, email).
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull heavy carts of supplies.
  • Visual and hearing acuity sufficient to perform duties.
  • May be exposed to various environmental conditions common in a healthcare setting (e.g., noise, temperature variations).
