Responsibilities

Respiratory Therapist (RRT)- On Call

 

Location: Inpatient/ Emergency Department
Position Status: On-Call; Non-exempt subject to over-time

Schedule: Shift opportunities; Weekend & Holiday rotation

Pay Range: $35.26 - $49.37 (based on experience)

 

RiverView Health has an opening for an On-Call Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). The RRT is a clinically competent, certified or registered professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for patients of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics through the process of carrying out modalities prescribed by an advanced practice provider. The individual is expected to effectively and professionally interacting with patients, family members, and other health care team members while maintaining RiverView Health standards of behavior.

 

Primary responsibilities: 

  • Perform diagnostic tests to assess patients' respiratory condition
  • Administer advanced respiratory treatments, perform assessments, and monitor patient response to ensure effective care
  • Demonstrates skill and judgment in emergency situations
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes
  • Application and management of respiratory care equipment, such as: ventilator, BiPAP, CPAP, and EKG as per protocol
  • Assist in maintenance of equipment, tools, supplies, and inventory as per policy
  • Document and complete billing according to current standards and policies
  • Ensures proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and patient identification techniques to maintain safety and compliance with infection control standards
  • Identify patient’s needs (physical, cultural, and psychosocial) and exhibit compassion, caring, and empathy to individual differences
  • Provides guidance and education to patients and their families
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards
  • Ensure continued competence and updated field knowledge
  • Comply with regulatory standards of the MN Medical Board of Practice, National Board for Respiratory Care, American Association for Respiratory Care

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and patient education skills 

 

Minimum(s):

  • Current State of Minnesota license in Respiratory Therapy (RT), which must be in good standing 
  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required 
  • Current American Heart BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required. If not currently certified training will be provided and certification must be obtained within 4 months from date of hire

Preferred(s):

  • Experience - 1+ year of Inpatient experience, 1+ year of Emergency Department experience
