RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Responsibilities

Position: Chemical Dependency Counselor 

Schedule: Full-Time (1.0 fte) - 80 hours per pay period
Recovery Center hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Range: $27.77 - $38.88 (D.O.E - dependent upon experience)

Job Status: Exempt, benefitted position

 

 

RiverView Recovery Center has a full-time (80-hours per pay period) opening for a Chemical Dependency Counselor, who will work mainly work in our East Grand Forks and Crookston offices, however some travel to the Thief River Falls office is required . Counselor will be responsible for a range of clinical services, including, but not limited to: Facilitation of Group Therapy; Facilitation of Individual Therapy; Chemical Health Assessments (Comprehensive Assessment); Crisis Management; Family Counseling and Case Management. The Counselor's home office can be located in Crookston or East Grand Forks.

Qualifications

Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Dependency, Addiction Studies, or an equivalent human services field (e.g., Social Work with an emphasis in Addiction Studies).
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain Licensure as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.
  • Must maintain a current and valid LADC license with bi-annual renewal.
  • If the candidate has a personal history of substance use disorder, they must be free from chemical use problems for at least 2 years.
  • Must have completed a minimum 12-hour training in co-occurring disorders, or be willing to complete this training within 6 months of hire (per MN Statute 245G.13).
  • Must pass background and required state licensing checks.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Completion and certification in Trauma-Informed Care (or willingness to complete within 6 months of employment).
  • Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation standards in behavioral health settings.
  • Prior experience in residential or outpatient chemical dependency treatment settings.
