RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Responsibilities

RiverView Healthcare Pharmacy is responsible for providing pharmacy services to the hospital, ancillary clinics, and retail pharmacy operations. Staff Pharmacist role encompasses inpatient pharmacy, outpatient pharmacy, and retail pharmacy duties. The open position is for one weekend a month, rotating holidays, and PRN shifts as able. 

 

The Staff Pharmacist is under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and is given considerable freedom in fulfilling job responsibilities.  In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, the Staff Pharmacist may be required to perform the essential duties of the Director of Pharmacy.

 

Accurately reviews and interprets medication orders; prepares accurate and complete patient/customer profiles; reviews profiles for correct drug, dosage and route of administration; ensures that no drug-drug interaction exists; ensures that patient/customer is not allergic to any medication prescribed.  Efficiently performs other professional pharmacy duties including the safe procurement, preparation, labeling, distribution and control of all drugs.  Notifies appropriate medical/nursing staff whenever appropriate drug therapy is questionable.  Actively supports and participates in pharmacy activities recommended by the TJC or other regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School.
  • Must hold a current Minnesota Board of Pharmacy License.
  • Current American Heart BLS and ACLS certifications are required. If not currently certified training will be provided and certifications must be obtained within 4 months from date of hire. 
  • Must understand the importance of positive communication with patients/customers, medical staff, general public, other departments and co-workers.
