Responsibilities

RiverView Health has an opening for an On-call, Certified Pharmacy Technician. The Pharmacy Technician shall be supervised by the Director of Pharmacy and Staff Pharmacists. The Pharmacy Technician may be used in performing pharmacy tasks not specifically reserved in rules and statutes to a licensed Pharmacist.

Pharmaceutical products prepared or processed by the Pharmacy Technician must be certified for accuracy by a licensed Pharmacist or Pharmacist-Intern prior to release for patient use.

Pharmacy Technicians must understand and follow Minnesota Pharmacy rules and statutes applicable to both hospital and retail pharmacies, including acquisition and maintenance of a Minnesota Board of Pharmacy Technician registration.

Primary Responsibilities

For retail pharmacy, enter patient and medication information into computer system, prepare, and process medications for final check by a Pharmacist. Post debits/credits and counting/depositing dollars accurately and other pharmacy related tasks not specifically reserved to a licensed pharmacist.

For inpatient pharmacy, IV preparation, inpatient dosage preparation, medication distribution, including, but not limited to automated dispensing machines, floor stock, emergency medication carts and anesthesia boxes.

Other Responsibilities

Inventory management, floor stock inspection, out-date checks, quality Improvement, processes for medication recalls and medication waste. Adherence to Controlled substance regulations.

 

Salary range is $21.05 - $29.47 and starting wage is dependent of experience. 

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be18 years old.
  • High School graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Registration with Minnesota Board of Pharmacy and PTCB Certification are required. If not currently registered/certified these must be obtained.
  • Greater than one year hospital or retail pharmacy experience is preferred. 
  • Follow requirements of USP chapters 797 and 795; Familiar with, or willing to learn pharmacy processes, EPIC, RX 30, MacroHelix, and Microsoft Excel. Ability to prioritize, handle stress, work cooperatively as a team member and meet the pharmaceutical care needs of the patients/customers served by the facility.
