RiverView Health, is a community owned, membership based non-profit organization that was formed in 1898 and continues to be the sole community hospital in Crookston, MN.

 

RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Responsibilities

RiverView Health has a full-time (80 hours every 2 weeks) opening for a Financial Counselor. The Financial Counselor is responsible for meeting with patients/guarantors, who require assistance in seeking and applying for healthcare funding (e.g., Charity Care, Medicaid, or other local/governmental funding program) and/or require assistance in reviewing and establishing payment options. They also support the financial integrity of RiverView health by ensuring payments are accurately recorded and posted to patients’ accounts and help to answer any questions regarding insurance, billing, statements, or healthcare financial obligations. The Financial Counselor will help to answer questions regarding billing, statements, and insurance coverage, perform cashier and customer service functions and collect and determine patient deductibles, co-pays and flat rates for uninsured patients. Salary range is $18.68 - $26.16 and starting wage is dependent on experience. 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • MN HPE Certification (must be completed within 6 months of hire date).
  • One year working in a healthcare field, preferably in a clinical setting or corporate billing office is required. 
  • One year or more of customer service experience is required. 
  • 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, clerical, or customer service work is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in payment posting and reconciliation is preferred.
  • Certified Application Counselor is preferred.
  • Experience using EPIC software system is preferred.
  • Grant writing experience is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance billing and reimbursement is preferred.
